Do it Yourself Spot Removal

  • Spills and Stains should be treated IMMEDIATELY.
  • The longer a spot remains, the more difficult it will be to remove.
  • Always apply the solvents or detergents to a Terry Cloth First!!!
  • Never apply solvents or detergent solutions directly to the carpet!

MILDEW
1. Apply enzyme detergent (mix one teaspoon of a colorless, mild detergent that
has enzymes in them and mix with lukewarm water) to a terry cloth, blot.
2. Apply ammonia solution (mix one tablespoon of clear household ammonia with one-half cup of water), blot.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water, by using a terry cloth and blotting.
4. Apply solution of oxidizing bleach (use hydrogen or sodium perborate, present in Snowy or Clorox II. Do Not use chlorine bleach)
5. Rinse thoroughly with water, blot until dry.

MILK
1. Apply cool detergent solution (mix one teaspoonful of a colorless, mild detergent or dishwashing liquid in a cup of cold water) to a terry cloth, blot.
2. Apply detergent solution (mix one teaspoonful of a colorless, mild detergent or dishwashing liquid in a cup of lukewarm water), blot.
3. Apply vinegar solution (mix one-third cup of white household vinegar with two-thirds cup of water), blot.
4. Rinse with water, with a terry cloth. Blot until dry.
5.Apply enzyme detergent (mix one teaspoon of a colorless, mild detergent that
has enzymes in them and mix with lukewarm water), blot.
6.Rinse with water using a terry cloth. Blot until dry.
7.Apply dry-cleaning solvent (lacquer thinner), blot.

MUD
1. Brush or scrape off as much as possible.
2. Apply detergent solution (mix one teaspoonful of a colorless, mild detergent or dishwashing liquid in a cup of lukewarm water) to a terry cloth, blot.
3. Apply detergent solution (mix one teaspoonful of a colorless, mild detergent or dishwashing liquid in a cup of lukewarm water), blot.
4. Rinse thoroughly with water, by using a terry cloth. Blot until dry.
5. If stain remains, apply a dry-cleaning agent (lacquer thinner), blot until dry.

MUSTARD
1. Apply cool detergent solution (mix one teaspoonful of a colorless, mild detergent or dishwashing liquid in a cup of cold water) to a terry cloth, blot.
2. Apply vinegar solution (mix one-third cup of white household vinegar with two-thirds cup of water), blot.
3.Apply enzyme detergent (mix one teaspoon of a colorless, mild detergent that
has enzymes in them and mix with lukewarm water), blot.
5. If stain remains, rust remover or bleaching (by a professional) may be necessary.
*Do not use ammonia or alkalies.
